Environments and locations have traits that can affect the the performance of certain types of abilities. An icy bridge, for example, would alter the rules of movement for characters who aren’t equipped to negate slippery effects (such as with spiked shoes).
These traits will sometimes affect the difficulties of certain actions. Below is a list of traits and how they modify actions.

Quiet | (1 - 3) Actions to hide or to move with stealth have a difficulty increased by the level of Quiet; Actions that require concentration or audible communication have a difficulty of -1 in Quiet settings. |
Loud | (1 - 3) Actions to hide or to move with stealth have a difficulty decreased by the level of Quiet; Actions that require concentration or audible communication have a difficulty of +1 in Loud settings. |
Dark | (1 - 3) Sense actions that require sight have their difficulty increased by the square of the level of Dark. |
Bright | (1 - 3) Sense actions that require sight have their difficulty increased by the level of Bright. |
Concealability | (1 - 3) Actions to find hidden entities have their difficulty increased by the level of Concealability. |
Slippery | (1 - 3) Draw to move without falling prone, difficulty is equal to (level of Slippery x 2) + 4. |
Sticky | (1 - 3) Draw to move, difficulty is equal to (level of Sticky x 2) + 4. |
Traction | Actions that require movement have their difficulty decreased by by 1. |
Grade | (1 - 3) Actions to move from to new zones have their difficulty increased by the level of grade. |
Toxic Air | (1 - 3) Make a poison resistance draw when starting your turn. Difficulty = (level of Toxic Air x 2) + 4. |
Clutter | Actions that require movement have their difficulty increased by by 1. |
Fluid | (1 - 3) Draw to move, difficulty is equal to (level of Fluid x 2) + 4. |
